Calling in reinforcements!

It's really about who you know!

Remember the metal cabinet I mentioned earlier? Well, Saturday we set out to get that taken care of. Beautiful thing about the Campulance is that we don’t have to get someone to come help, we can bring the Reno right to them. Sam said we could “borrow” Tim as long as we returned him in the same condition we received him. I think we were successful in that regard, plus Sam was making cookies so it was a win win. 

The metal cabinet is actually part of one of the outside storage compartments and needed to be removed in order to make room for the bed. I'm pretty sure I see Lucas' vision for this part of the build, but it does look a bit intimidating. I'm going to stick to interiors and construction assistant on this one, he will be in charge of building plans and figuring out how to build the walls. 




We measured and explained what we were thinking, then Tim got to work. It took a while and there were sparks flying, but it’s exactly what we needed and looks great!!

I feel like we are nearing the end of demo and moving toward construction. Can't wait!!  I have subway tile and shiplap patiently waiting to be installed.

Memorial Weekend Part 1

This was it The true test of all our hard work. Up until this point we had only gone for one night stays, maybe two here or there. This time we were embarking on a 4 night journey. I admit, I was a bit nervous about that many days without the use of a long hot shower, but I was going to give it my best try.   In typical Lucas & Leslie fashion we headed to camp with a few projects we wanted to accomplish. I little sitting and relaxing is nice, but we seem to  prefer keeping ourselves occupied with activities most of the time.  Maybe my kids come by their ADD naturally, who knows.  I think I'll take you on a day by day peek into our adventures. Thursday was pretty low key, we didn't head up until after work so arrived around 7pm. Checking things off the list

It's NOT just what's on the inside that counts. We have been a bit more focused on all things outside the last few weeks and it's feeling pretty good to check things off the list.  Working on the water system, sprucing up the tires and adding some personality to the exterior have been our focus recently.  Lucas got new hubcaps for Christmas, so once it was warm enough we got those installed.  I'll show you the before so you can appreciate the after.  Before                        During    And the After..... Next up was working on the water system.  We had the counter, sink and faucet all ready on the inside, but the bigger project really lies in the outside cabinet where the fresh and gray water tanks will go, along with the pump and hot water heater.  The counter height is higher, so the clips that came with the sink wouldn't work.  A trip to Home Depot and some creative use of the  Dremel and the sink is nice and secure.   Water is not completely flowing, but we

Problem Solved

  This one took some thinking. Back to the inside to tackle a few more cosmetic things.  We are working on prettying up the back corner where we removed the cabinet and coming up with a creative way to cover the under bed storage.   Step one was removing that corner cabinet so the bed would fit.  We needed to build a wall of some kind, since it was open to the outside storage.  We had a small cabinet behind the bed for storage and a "headboard", so we built on top of that, I think it looked pretty good.  Problem was as I scooted up during the night I kind of felt like I was in an office cubicle.  We did a little redesign and added some shiplap and paint for good measure.  Here is the final product, with bedding all washed and ready for the first trip.
